Post-Event Survey Questions: 25 Examples to Ask cover

The best post-event survey questions are short, specific and tied to a decision you'll actually make. Ask 5 to 10 of them, send them while the event is still fresh, and use a channel your guests already open. Below are 25 post-event survey questions grouped by goal, plus when to send them and how to get more people to answer.

Pick the 5 to 10 questions that match your goal. Nobody needs to answer all 25.

What Makes a Good Post-Event Survey?

A good post-event survey gets answers you can use. Four things make the difference:

  • It's short. 5 to 10 questions. Each extra question costs you answers.

  • It has a goal. Every question should feed a decision: book the venue again, change the format, follow up with a buyer.

  • It's mostly closed questions. Scales and multiple choice are fast to answer and easy to compare. Add 1 or 2 open questions for detail.

  • It arrives at the right moment. A survey that lands while guests are still thinking about the event gets far more replies than one sent days later.

25 Post-Event Survey Questions to Ask

Overall Satisfaction

  1. On a scale of 0 to 10, how likely are you to recommend this event to a friend or colleague?

  2. How satisfied were you with the event overall?

  3. Did the event meet your expectations? (Yes / Partly / No)

  4. What was the highlight of the event for you?

  5. What one thing would you change?

The first question is the Net Promoter Score (NPS) question. It's the easiest way to compare events over time.

Content and Experience

  1. Which session, activation or moment did you enjoy most?

  2. How relevant was the content to your work or interests?

  3. Did you have enough time to network or explore?

  4. How would you rate the venue and location?

  5. How easy was it to find your way around and get updates during the event?

Brand and Product

Use these after a brand activation, launch or sampling event.

  1. Before today, how familiar were you with [brand]?

  2. Which product did you try?

  3. How likely are you to buy [product] in the next 3 months?

  4. What would make you choose [brand] over what you use now?

  5. Would you like to hear about new launches and offers? (Yes / No)

Audience and Preferences

These questions build zero-party data: information guests choose to share about themselves. Read more about how to collect zero-party data.

  1. Which best describes you? (For example: student, alumni or fan)

  2. Which topics would you like to hear more about?

  3. How would you like us to contact you? (SMS, WhatsApp or email)

  4. How did you hear about this event?

  5. Would you come again next year?

Sponsors and Partners

Use these if you run an event with sponsors and want to prove their return.

  1. Which sponsor activations did you visit?

  2. Which sponsor do you remember most?

  3. Did you try a product, book a demo or sign up with any sponsor?

  4. How well did the sponsor experiences fit the event?

  5. Would you like a sponsor to contact you about their products?

When to Send Your Post-Event Survey

Send it while the event is still on guests' minds: in the closing hours or within a day. After that, your survey competes with a full inbox and fading memories.

The best moment is when guests are already looking at their phones for something they want. If guests get their event photos by SMS or WhatsApp, the photo message is the natural place to ask. They open it to see their photos, and the question is right there.

Two examples:

  • Aperol Day Club at Coachella: Aperol ended its weekend of photo drops with a closing NPS survey in the same message thread. Survey replies were added to each guest's profile, and Aperol built 4,000+ first-party profiles across its 2025 and 2026 Day Clubs. Read the Aperol case study.

  • Temple FanCam: Temple asked fans one question by text at its game day tailgate. 61% engaged with the poll, and 40% replied in under 3 minutes. Read the Temple case study.

How to Get More People to Answer

  1. Keep it short. One question by text beats ten questions nobody opens.

  2. Use reply-by-number answers. "Reply 1, 2 or 3" takes seconds on SMS or WhatsApp.

  3. Give something back. Photos, a giveaway entry or early access gives guests a reason to reply.

  4. Ask the most important question first. Some people will stop after one answer, so make it count.

  5. Say how long it takes. "2 quick questions" sets the right expectation.

  6. Close the loop. Tell guests what you changed because of their answers. They'll answer again next time.

Post-Event Survey Template by Text

Here's a simple 2-message survey you can send by SMS or WhatsApp. Swap in your own details.

Thanks for coming to [event]. Your photos are ready: [gallery link]. Quick question: how likely are you to recommend [event] to a friend? Reply 0 to 10.

Thank you. One more: what should we bring back next time? Reply 1 for [option A], 2 for [option B] or 3 for [option C].

Two questions, both answered with a number, sent with something guests already want to open.

What to Do With Survey Answers

  • Add answers to each guest's profile. Answers stored in your CRM are worth far more than a separate spreadsheet.

  • Segment your follow-up. Send product offers to people who said they plan to buy, and event news to people who want to come back.

  • Share results with stakeholders and sponsors. NPS, highlights and sponsor recall help justify the next budget.

  • Compare events. Ask the same core questions every time so you can see what improved.

Post-Event Survey FAQ

How many questions should a post-event survey have?

5 to 10 questions is a good range. If you send it by text, 1 to 3 questions work best.

When should you send a post-event survey?

During the closing hours of the event or within a day after it ends. The sooner you ask, the more guests remember and the more of them answer.

What is a good response rate for a post-event survey?

It depends on the channel, the audience and what guests get in return. Short polls by text can get answers fast: at Temple's tailgate, 61% of fans engaged with a single question.

What's the most important post-event survey question?

"How likely are you to recommend this event to a friend or colleague?" It gives you a Net Promoter Score you can track across every event.
